Program Requirements for Bachelor of Science
The program requirements for a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders are designed to fulfill university requirements and requirements of ASHA, the American Speech Language Hearing Association. This is the accrediting organization for speech-language pathologists and audiologists.
In addition, students will complete much of the coursework required for New York State teaching certification.
Students must complete at least 120 credits for the bachelor's degree. They must complete the liberal arts core requirements, including basic skill requirements in math and writing. In fulfilling the liberal arts requirement, students must take certain distributions of courses.

Program Requirements for Minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders A minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders s designed for the student who wishes to explore the field, to investigate an area of academic substance, and to become familiar with a field that offers opportunitites in both applied and basic research and clinical practice. The minor consists of 18 credits in CSD coursework. Required courses: Three courses from the following group: CSD 316 Applied Phonetics CSD 325 Hearing Science CSD 345 Fundamentals of Speech Science CSD 409 Cognitive Neuroscience of Speech and Hearing Two additional courses from the prior group or from the following: CSD 400 Aural Rehabilitation CSD 427 Articulation Disorders CSD 425 Stuttering CSD 429 Basic Clinical Audiology
Undergraduate Admissions
Individuals not currently enrolled at Syracuse University (i.e. high school seniors and transfer students from other universities) must complete and submit an official Syracuse University Undergraduate Application Form. Students who are currently enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University may declare a major in Communication Sciences and Disorders after successful completion of CSD 212 with a grade of B or better and after meeting with a CSD academic advisor.
Students who are currently enrolled within another school or college within the university must transfer into the College of Arts and Sciences in order to declare a major in Communication Sciences and Disorders. This transfer is accomplished by an intra-university transfer form, which can be obtained from the academic advising offices in the individual schools and colleges.
Financial Support
Financial support for undergraduate students is administered through the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid.
